Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress as well as producer and director. Her work has been recognized for films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards, including her first Oscar for her movie Piano. She began her career as an actress on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. From her early years she's always been enthusiastic about acting. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. The actress was deaf in one ear after suffering from Mumps, but she didn't let this disability dampen her determination to become an actress. When she was in college studying drama, she moved into New York City with her ambitions with her sights set. She ran into Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated to make Broadway Crimes of the Heart the first movie Hunter made. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. Her first film role was as an actress supporting the lead character of Swing Shift. In the last three decades, she has appeared on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
