Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized by her highly commendable performances in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards and awards, among them her first Oscar for her role in the film Piano. The successful actress began her career as an actor in the theatre with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. She has always had an interest in acting since she was in school. Her first role in a play in fifth grade was in Helen Keller. As a result of having mumps, she became blind on the other side the ear. However, this did not stop her ambition to become an actor. She studied drama at college after which she moved to Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her dreams. After a casual encounter, she became stuck in an elevator alongside writer Beth Henley and the two joined forces to create the Broadway Crimes of the Heart that was Hunter's first performance. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. The role she was offered came as an actress who played the leading character Swing Shift. Since her time in Los Angeles, Holly Hunter has been in many films, television movies and series. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
